go ahead and buy it!
... go ahead and buy it! works graet in with my nikon d-40x and the price was fair.
1,800 battery was not available
Digital Innovations delivered a 1,200 mah battery instead of the 1,800 mah ordered. Explanation - the manufacturer could not deliver due to issues with the 1,800 battery being "too powerful for the camera".
Several weeks later and a very large number of e-mails and phone calls - I'm out of my return shipping cost (about $4) and no 1,800 mah battery in my camera.
Rating given is 5 only because I do not want to downgrade a product I have not evaluated and rating is a mandatory field for this review to be posted.
Bottom line? Call the distributor before ordering to make sure you will indeed get what you expect.
Works perfectly, cheaper on Ebay
I was somewhat nervous since this battery has higher power (1800 mAh) than the OEM Nikon EN-EL9 (1000mAh). However it works perfectly and will not damage the camera at all (despite what some "Nikonians" would have you believe). The only difference is that this battery lasts even longer than the OEM unit, and is 1/2 to 1/3 the cost. It's a good idea to have a back-up battery for an all-day shoot, and this fits the bill without the cost of the OEM product.
BTW, I found this exact product on Ebay, where Eforcity (dba everydaysource dot com) is selling it for two dollars plus eight dollars shipping. The total cost is an excellent bargain.
** UPDATE 11/14/07-- The battery currently being offered is shown as 1200 mAh, not the 1800 of my original purchase, or the 1000 of the OEM Nikon battery. It is now $12 with shipping, but there may be some quality control issues... Also these sellers keep changing their dba names every few months, so caution is advised. Caveat Emptor
